You should always keep your cards on the table in site of the dealer. You cannot put your cards on your lap or onto your chair. If you take your cards off the table your hand can be disqialified.You should get in the habit of putting a chip on top of your cards to indicate you want to stay in the hand. This is know as a card protector.
