I am not a cold weather person, so when I found out I was going to Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires all I could think about was how I was going to survive 5 days in the the cold. I typically head south or west for the holiday but this year I’m glad I stayed on the East Coast.
New years weekend a Canyon ranch was a real treat. To begin with, when you check in you feel like you are the only person at the spa. It is very customized and personal. I am a big room snob but the accommodations were great. 2 bathrooms, washer, dryer (which i never used). Big screen TV and my favorite Logoed dental floss. The great thing is that you never have to leave the facility. Everything is connected indoors surrounded by oversized windows, so you can see the beauty of winter with out feeling the cold should you choose.
The spa is beautiful and the food was good. maybe too good., Do not miss puree of squash with maple syrup or the homemade ice cream with chocolate sauce which you can get at lunch and dinner. I think I tried every flavor.
The staff was great and everyone had a great time at the Casino Night on New Years eve which included a great Poker tournament.
